Training Management System

We recently completed a training management system for EHSData, developed as an additional module to their Incident Management System.

The system allows users to manage their own training, and to ensure they remain compliant with their role(s) training requirements. It also provides pages for managers, so that they can see how compliant staff under their management are with their training requirements. This is all wrapped up in a very flexible system, that can match a wide variety of organisation structures.

Regulatory Notification System

A client recently requested a system in order to help them manage their regulatory notifications to the Environment Agency. The process of generating a regulatory notification, involved some complicated steps on looking at previous breaches in the preceding 24 months. At the time they were managing this process manually using Excel spreadsheets, and wanted a more automated and less error prone approach.

We provided a system that linked in with their existing software, exported the potential breaches to include, provide a web based todo like interface that allowed them to manually confirm which breaches should be raised, and then guide them through the generation of a new notification to the environment agency.

This has since been integrated into EHSData’s IMS product.

Incident Management System

Viridor Waste Management had previously been managing their incident reporting for their several thousand employees via word documents and an Access database. In 2007 we were contacted via EHSData and identified several possible ways forward for Viridor, and in the end they selected that we develop a new custom system to manage their incident reporting (giving them the most flexibility).

This was development and has been in use at Viridor since 2007, having many new features added each year. This is a large web based application, using the latest web technology to provide a rich interface to users without requiring a client installation.

Silverlight Data Explorer

We had the opportunity to provide Viridor Waste Management with a solution to allow external Environmental Agency users restricted access to Viridor’s very large environmental monitoring database. We proposed and delivered a solution using ASP.NET to allow users to query into a new reporting copy of the monitoring database, indexed to provide quick data retrieval (without affecting their production environment) and silverlight to provide an interactive charting interface.

Hazard Decision Support System

We have worked with the UK National Chemical Emergency Centre (part of AEA Technology) and delivered two projects for them recently.

Hazard Decision Support Tool
NCEC required the development of a low bandwidth intelligent web based application to interrogate their chemical database. This is used through a special emergency network available in each Fire engine (available when mobile phones may have gone down). Fire fighters would use the system to enter chemical warning labels at the scene of an incident, and it would advise them on what safety precautions should be undertaken.

Lookup Service on Cross-Link Carriage, Supply and Exposure Limits Legislation
After the successful delivery of the first project, (and subsequent extension contract). NCEC contacted Wiret again for the delivery of this application, which provide another web and mobile interface to querying NCEC databases.
